Charlie Parr – live at Privatclub Berlin
Minnesota-born guitarist and songwriter Charlie Parr has been one of the defining voices of American folk and blues for more than two decades. With 19 albums released and hundreds of shows performed each year, Parr embodies the true spirit of a folk troubadour: constantly on the road, writing and reshaping songs, and carrying the timeless traditions of folk and blues into the present.
His music is deeply rooted in the sounds of his childhood record collection – legends like Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie, and Rev. Gary Davis – yet unmistakably his own. With raw, heartfelt vocals, masterful fingerpicking on resonator and 12-string guitar, and lyrics that draw from working-class stories, nature, and everyday encounters, Parr has forged a unique style of modern folk storytelling.
Recent releases on Smithsonian Folkways, including Last of Better Days Ahead (2021) and his latest album Little Sun (2024), highlight Parr’s poetic songwriting and his ability to create music that is at once grounded in tradition and strikingly original. On stage, his performances range from intimate and fragile to powerful and hypnotic — always authentic, always moving.
On May 13, 2026, Charlie Parr brings his timeless blend of folk, blues, and lyrical poetry to Privatclub Berlin — an evening of songs that balance longing, resilience, and vitality.
