GRO is the moniker of Danish musician and producer Julie Møller Christiansen. With heartfelt devotion to synthesizers and harps she approaches the pop-genre in a refreshingly new way. Shortlist Magazine (UK) has described Julie's vocals as “beautiful and pure” and Soundvenue (DK) states that Julie is able to provide an “effective chorus and helium vocal”.
Julie grew up with flower power and folk music. During adolescence she became increasingly interested in experimental electronic music, which she later studied at the Danish National Academy of Music. Her professional career started in the synthpop band We Are The Way For The Cosmos To Know Itself. With this band she has played concerts at major Danish festivals such as Roskilde Festival and SPOT and was airplayed on Danish and international radio. Her lyrical univers often has a therapeutic approach as it mainly reflects on personal experiences with the fragility of life and life decisions.
On stage GRO is providing technically impressive concerts that span from intimate moments with ethereal vocals and harp to synth-explosions with heavy basslines and modular synthesizer improvisation. Her critically acclaimed debut album "Columna" from 2021 has gained a lot of attention for its unique mixture of organic and electronic textures and so has the more lush and electronic sounding singles from her second album "Better Be Yours", which will be out in June 2023.
